The Royal Observatory Edinburgh from the Lilliput Lane Collection. Situated high up on Blackford Hill, three miles south of the city centre, the Royak Observatory of Edinburgh is a magnificent sight t behold - and has been decribed as a Graeco-Roman fantasy. We have recreated only part of the magnificent 180-feet-long sandstone building built in 1892-6 by W W Robertson -- an octagonal tower surmounted by its distinguished weathered copper cylindrical telescope housings, plus a few of many astronomical references included in the external decoration.
